Q: What’s the difference between coaching and counseling?
A: As a life, love and wellness coach I help clients work on achieving goals, creating new lifestyles, and improving the quality of their lives. I partner with my clients and inspire them to maximize their potential. Some say counselors spend more time examining the past and deep emotional concerns. With my counseling background and experience I know that often our past does need to be addressed in order for lasting change to occur, therefore I do help clients heal and learn from past experiences. However, for those with significant psychological problems I recommend contacting a licensed therapist and in some cases a physician, especially if seeking a diagnosis for insurance purposes. I am happy to work in collaboration with these other professionals. Please refer to my About Me page to see my professional credentials.
Q: How will coaching help me?
A: You will gain new perspectives on how to reach your goals. You will discover meaningful and effective solutions for the challenges you face and will be empowered to take action. You will be supported to enhance your skills, your resources and your creativity.
Q: Why a holistic approach?
A: I believe and enjoy helping my clients realize how physical, mental, and relational health and overall well-being are interconnected. Certain challenges or problems in one area may directly or indirectly impact other areas of life. An unconsidered part of our life might be the real source of distress.
Q: What if I just want to ______ (lose weight/work on my relationship/relieve my depression or anxiety/learn how to control sugar cravings/etc…)? Can I just get coaching for one issue?
A: Absolutely. I listen, observe and customize my approach based on individual client/couple needs. You are the director of our sessions; I am a supportive guide.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: I accept cash, checks or credit card payments via PayPal. My account is Stark Wellness and this form of payment must process before or at the beginning of our sessions.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not accept insurance. Insurance companies often require a diagnosis, make it difficult to obtain coverage and payment, and limit the number of sessions allowed. However, some insurance companies are open to providing reimbursement for services outside of network and many are recognizing the benefits of health and wellness coaching. I have had clients call me specifically because I was listed on their out-of-network options. Please check with your insurance company.
Q: Do you offer free consultations, discovery calls, etc…?
A: Sure. I encourage you to browse around my website and feel free to text, email or call me with further questions. After making the difficult decision to seek help, I want you to feel confident in your source.
Q: What sort of classes do you offer?
A: I offer classes/workshops/webinars on various areas of health and wellness including: specific health or weight loss issues, healthy lifestyles, food choices, cooking, exercise/healthy movement, combating stress/anxiety; handling relationship issues such as communication skills, learning to understand and respect each other, brining joy back; life issues such as parenting, student issues, and dealing with life transitions of divorce, relocation, loss, etc. I also offer various workshops for essential oils and vision boards. Q: You also offer surfing lessons and stand-up paddleboard tours on South Padre Island???
